Do nald G. Smith, 79, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, May 16th at Landis Homes after a long illness. He was a Lancaster resident for 46 years.

Born July 9th, 1930 in Lancaster, he was the second son of Walter P. and Alma G. Smith of Parkesburg, PA.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan W. Smith of Lancaster, a son, Mark D. Smith of Croton on Hudson, NY and his wife Jean Cameron-Smith and grandson, Hunter M. C. Smith, a daughter, Susan S. Ketchum of Lititz and her husband Randolph F. Ketchum, and grandchildren, Preston F. Ketchum, Erin J. Ketchum and Reagan W. Ketchum.He is also survived by his siblings, Parvin Smith of Parkesburg, Edwin Smith of Fort Worth, TX , Samuel Smith of Parkesburg and Joan Moore of Parkesburg.

He was a graduate of Parkesburg High School where he was a stand out basketball and baseball player. He attended Pierce Business School in Philadelphia and later graduated from Franklin and Marshall College with a degree in business administration. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1950 to 1958, leaving the Army as a Staff Sergeant.

Donald joined Armstrong World Industries in 1950 and retired with 40 years service as Senior Advertising Manager.

He is a former business manager of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, and a founder of the Manheim Township Little League Baseball Association.

He was a founding member of Buckhorn Lodge near Sweden Valley, PA, a long time member of the Cochran Hunt Club, Cochranville, PA and The Cheshire Hunt, Unionville, PA, and Highland Presbyterian Church, Lancaster.

He loved foxhunting, boating, and snowmobiling and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved sports, dancing and spending time with his family.

Memorial services will be held at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street, Parkesburg, PA on Sunday, May 23rd with family visitation from 6 - 7 pm and the remembrance service at 7pm, and at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Road, Lancaster PA on Monday, May 24 with family visitation from 9:30 – 11 am and the memorial service commencing at 11 am.
