Donald Albert Althouse

April 8, 1932 — October 21, 2024

Donald A. Althouse, 92, of Parkesburg, PA, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, in Glen Mills, PA.  He was the husband of Hubertha "Bep" Althouse for over 50 years.  Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Albert and Anna (Piersol) Althouse.

Don was an area resident for most of his life. Raised in Coatesville he later attended college at Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, PA, and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.  When he returned home he owned and operated a newspaper distribution company, delivering the Philadelphia Inquirer among other publications to local counties.  He later went into publishing and owned a number of local newspapers during his career including the Parkesburg Post.  Always active in his community, he was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Coatesville as well as the Parkesburg Lions Club.

In addition to his wife, Bep, he is survived by a daughter, Rebekka Althouse Gordon (husband Derek) of Arkansas, granddaughters, Helena and Wilhelmina, and siblings, David Althouse of Parkesburg, Richard Althouse of Trappe, PA, and Susan McConnell of Delaware.  He was preceded in death by a beloved son, Jesse Althouse.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home in Parkesburg, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time.  Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express condolences to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Don's name.
