Colleen Cara Hannum

Colleen Cara Hannum, 53, of Mortonville, PA passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She was the beloved wife of Eric Scott Hannum. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. Rissell and Maureen Kenny Rissell.

Colleen was a resident of the Romansville/Mortonville area all her life and a 1991 graduate of the Downingtown High School. Colleen held several bookkeeping positions over the years, and was an Orthodontist Assistant until she and Eric started their family, when she embraced the most important job of all - Mother to her daughters, Cara and Anna. Colleen was a truly nurturing, devoted mother, always ensuring that her girls’ needs came before all else, and was exceedingly proud of them. She and Eric raised two beautiful, kind, and intelligent daughters who are treasured by the entire family.

Colleen was, in a word, stunning, especially when she flashed her million-watt smile. She was generous, fun-loving and funny, and her laugh was infectious. One of her favorite places on Earth was the beach, and she, Eric and the girls, with niece, Shannon, and nephew, Danny, enjoyed many summer trips to Cape Henlopen. Colleen was very spiritual; she loved being outside anywhere in nature, where she would feel the most spiritual connection to God, animals, flora and fauna, and all her surroundings. She loved spending time with her two dogs, Hammer and Hunter. She was very creative and loved to work with her hands - always working on a project or two. She was an excellent cook, loved to read and listen to good Rock music. Family was everything to Colleen, and she cherished her relationships with everyone, near and far.

In addition to her husband, Eric, Colleen is survived by two daughters; Cara Kathleen Hannum and Anna Maureen Hannum, both at home, and three sisters; Kathleen Trupe (Troy) of Narvon, PA, Kerry Beck (Willard) of Landenberg, PA, and Kellen Rissell Sobiech of Gap, PA, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Colleen is reunited in the glory of Heaven with the Lord, and her beloved mom and dad.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Malachi Catholic Church, 76 St. Malachi Rd. Cochranville, PA, with visitation starting at 9:30 AM. Interment will immediately follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
