Charles R. "Chew" McCarty, 84, of Parkesburg, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Hickory House Nursing Home, Honey Brook, PA. He was the beloved husband of Alice Nitzenberger McCarty with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late Charles A. "Pete" McCarty and Marian R. Matthews McCarty.
Chew was a lifelong resident of Parkesburg. He was employed for 43 years by Acme Markets as a meat cutter retiring in 1994. He served as Past Master of the Keystone Goddard Masonic Lodge, and he was a member of the Coatesville Moose Lodge and the American Legion.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by one daughter Marsha McCarty Montgomery of Plymouth Meeting, son-in-law Gene Wischuck of Parkesburg, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, sister-in-law Gerri Nitzenberger and brother-in-law Bob Nitzenberger and wife Sharon. He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Sue Wischuck.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017, at 1:00 PM at the Georgetown Methodist Cemetery, 1070 Georgetown Rd, Georgetown, PA 17562.
