Charles Amos Sherrer Sr.

May 19, 1951 — March 4, 2021

Charles Amos Sherrer, Sr., 69, of Thorndale, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. He was the husband of the late Gloria Ann Sharrer Sherrer who died in 2003. They shared 31 years of marriage together. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Benjamin H. Sherrer and Ruby Rose Dowell Sherrer.

Amos was an area resident all his life. He was employed for 30 years by the Lukens Steel Company of Coatesville as an inspector. More recently he was employed as a bus driver for On The Go Kids.

Amos was a member of the following local organizations: the Hephzibah Baptist Church, West End Fire Company #3, life member of the Thorndale Fire Company, the Coatesville Moose Lodge #1153 since 1974, St. Anthony's in Downingtown, the Downingtown VFW #845 and the Brandywine Goddard Masonic Lodge F&AM.

He is survived by five children; Kimberly Deas of Mortonville, Edna Deas of Mortonville, Rose Hervey and husband Gary of Glenmoore, Charles "Amos" Sherrer, Jr. and wife Jenn of New Holland, and Nicholas Sherrer and wife Jaclyn Bernardo of Coatesville, 12 grandchildren; Ashley Tipton (Jared Guiseppe), Jessica Kinney, Kyleigh Cowperthwaite, Cannon Cowperthwaite, Talia Sherrer, Lee Hervey, Charles Sherrer III, Grace Sherrer, Elyse Sherrer, Wesley Bernardo, Nathan Bernardo, and Logan Bernardo.Ttwo great grandchildren; Tyler Rossell and Grace Guiseppe and three siblings; Paul Sherrer of Texas, Ruth De Abreu of Quarryville and Betty Eutsey of New Providence. he was preceded in death by his daughter Amy Lynn Sherrer.

Amos was such a loving, caring, giving, and kind man. He loved his visits to the beach in Ocean City Maryland with family and friends. Amos also loved the sun, if it was 40 degrees or 90 degrees he would be out enjoying every moment. He enjoyed being with his family and friends in general, whether it was a picinic or a party. If you were lucky enough to know Amos you knew you would never go hungry. He was always cheering on his favorite sports teams especially Penn State Football and all of the Philadelphia home teams. Amos was always first to lend a helping hand in any way he could. You could always depend on him, whether it was for advice, a good laugh, or especially if you needed your lawn mowed; he was there through it all.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 12:00 noon at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery in East Fallowfield. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to the time of the service.
