Alta Jane Perry

May 2, 1928 — February 23, 2024

Alta Jane Perry, 95, of Denver, PA, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, in Ephrata, PA. She was the wife of the late Donald L. Perry who passed away in 1986.  Born in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bertha S. (Miller) McCulley.

In her younger days, she was known for talking on the phone for hours with her family and friends, hosting large spaghetti dinners for her many relatives with Don, and cooking stuffed flank steak for holidays.  She was incredibly generous with her time, money, home, and possessions.  She worked for the former Burroughs Corporation before it became Unisys, and liked to spend her weekends taking the family shopping for the best bargains, or riding around the countryside.

In later years, Alta loved sneaking snacks to her many dogs, playing Skip-Bo, still liked shopping for great bargains to give to others, and traveling with her daughter, son and daughter-in-law. She loved to laugh while playing games with family, and always had a side-comment to make you smile.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Barbara) Perry of Hockessin, DE, and Risë Perry of Denver, PA, three grandchildren (Mike (Heather) March, Donnie Perry, and Kathy (Paul) Shuber), and two great-grandchildren (Shauna March and Jacob Shuber).  She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Rappold, and siblings, Frank Miller and Warren McCulley. She loved her extended family—from in-laws to great grand-nieces, and everyone in between -- with her whole heart and always glad to have them surrounding her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA, with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. until service time.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to your local non-kill animal shelter.
