Allan H. Newman

Allan H. Newman, Sr., 86, of West Bradford Township, died on Monday, November 13, 2017, at the Neighborhood Hospice Center in West Chester. He was the beloved husband of Ruth E. Wertz Newman with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Long Branch, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter Newman, Sr. and Viola Keller Newman.

Allan was a 1949 graduate of Asbury Park High School in New Jersey. After graduation, he went on to serve in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1953 and had been stationed in Germany and North Africa.

Allan retired from West Chester University's building maintenance department.

He is survived, in addition to his wife; by two sons, Henry Newman of West Bradford and Harry Newman and wife Jennifer of East Fallowfield, six grandchildren, Kristin Menna, Lauren Menna Ciesielski, Daniel Menna, Allan Newman, Jessica Newman, and Scott Newman; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Chase; and three siblings; Eunice Porter of Florida, Joan McKinney of Florida and Walter Newman, Jr. of South Carolina.  Allan was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen M. Menna, who passed away in 2016.
