Cushman R. Harris

Cushman R. Harris, 101, of Coatesville, passed away on September 2, 2018 at Harrison House in Chester County. He was the widow of the late Mildred Harris and his second wife, the late Pauline Thompson Harris. Born in Cecil County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Lewis and Marylee Thomas Harris.

He lived most of his life in Coatesville, being employed at the Veterans Hospital Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant, retiring in 1977.

He served honorably in the US Army during W.W.II, earning the rank of Sergeant.  He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Ribbon.

He enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing, baking pies (his favorite was apple pie), and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He was also an artist.

He is survived by his children: Barbara Ward of Coatesville, Kashman Harris of Reading and Helene Harris of Coatesville, plus his stepchildren, James Cornish of New Jersey, Ada McCrum of Downingtown and William "Sandy" Thompson of California, 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, plus a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a step son, Ralph Cornish and siblings, George Harris, Lester Harris, Harold Harris, Thomas Harris, Pauline Harris and Elizabeth Harris.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  Interment will be private.
