Donald T. "Rip" Fredd, 89, of Gumtree, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. "Betty" Anderson Fredd with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. Born in the village of Youngsburg, East Fallowfield township, he was the son of the late Hugh S. Fredd and Thelma Brown Ammon.

Donald was an area resident all his life and a 1950 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville. He proudly served in the US Army in the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.

He was employed, by 31 years, by the former Seamless Modena Foundry as a shipping clerk. Later, he was also employed by the former McGrail Equipment Company and then Summer and Zim's, Inc. of Atglen, PA.

Donald was a faithful member of the Friendship United Methodist Church and the Gap VFW. He also served as an umpire for the Southern Chester County Little League for 30 years.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children; Thomas G. Fredd of Gum Tree and partner Melinda  Benson and Sandra L. Franciscus and husband John of Gap, three grandchildren; Jessica Estes and husband William of Elverson, Laura Fredd-Maxwell and husband Andrew of Downingtown, Carl Franciscus and fiancé Amanda Gehron of Pomeroy, nine great grandchildren; and one sister Lois P. Coleman of Towerville, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Friendship United Methodist Church, 123 East Friendship Church Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320 with visitation at the church from 10:00 AM to the time of the service. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery with military honors.
