He enjoyed sitting on his balcony with his caregiver, John, who he loved and considered a part of his family.
He is survived by his cousins, Cheryl (Sherry) Brown Laub, Susan (Bob) Brown Kelshaw, Stephen Brown, Kevin (Patty) Brown, his dear friend, Sandra Kreiss-Schmidt, and his loving caregiver, John Gorman. He was preceded in death by his fiance, Betty Page Garman Russell.

I met Bill at Lehman College in 1982 and we were friends for over 30 years. Bill was a good companion and able to talk intelligently on many subjects. He was especially skilled in American history and political science. His sense of humor was never far away, and his committment to Socialist ideals was never in question. Not only was he an excellent librarian, but a good friend with a warmth and humanity that few could match. He will
always be nissed.
