Mary L. Sears, 87, of Gap, PA, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, in Quarryville, PA at the Quarryville Presbyterian Home.  She was the wife of the late Frank Sears who passed away in 2004.  Born in Little Britain Township, Lancaster County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Margaret (Davis) Pierce.

Mary graduated from Scott High School in Coatesville, PA, in 1955.  She was a member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church in Gap.  She was a homemaker while her daughters were little and later in life waitressed for a few years at Gap Diner.  She loved to knit, bake and enjoyed shopping.  She once tackled King of Prussia, Prices Corner, and Lancaster Shopping Center all in one day.  But more importantly she enjoyed spending quality time with grandsons, family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Jodie L. (Ronald L. Jr.) Groff of Gap, and Stacey L. (Daniel E.) Strickland of Greenville, NC, grandsons, Ronald L. Groff III, Derek L. (Kellie) Groff, Steven B. Groff, Bradley T. (Caroline) Strickland, and Austin L. Strickland (Blair Burgwyn), and siblings, Jane MacDonald of Loveland, CO, C. Ray (Marla) Pierce of Elizabethtown, PA, and Glenn (Cindy) Pierce of Cross Fork, PA.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to ALS United Mid-Atlantic 1015 Virginia Drive, Suite 110, Fort Washington, PA 19034.  

The family would like to thank Quarryville Presbyterian Skilled Care for loving and taking good care of Mom.

So very sorry for your loss. Mary was such a sweet woman. I knew her from Rhodes Market and I will never forget how when we lost our house in a tornado years ago and the very Generous donation Frank and her donated to us. Payers to you and your family
