Lucy A. Keck, 80, of Coatesville, died at her home on Monday, October 17, 2011. She was the widow of the late Henry A. Keck who died in 1981. Born in Kennett Square, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Donofrio Vattilana.

She lived all her life in Chester County and attended various schools; she often talked about attending a two room schoolhouse and having to walk in all kinds of weather.  She was especially fond of Chadds Ford School because she got to take a schoolbus and, "didnt have to walk a country mile to get there."  She was an avid reader and was fond of westerns.  Her favorite author was James Michener and she collected first editions.

She loved fishing with her husband of 33 years and looked forward to spending each summer in Cape Hatteras, NC and Indian River, DE.  Her hobbies were crocheting and gardening, especially growing roses.

A member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Coatesville, she regularly attended Bible study and enjoyed lunch with her friends.

She was also a member of the Christiana American Legion and a life member of the Downingtown VFW Post 845.  In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her many friends, her grandsons and her great-grandsons.

She is survived by one son Steven G. Keck, Sr. and wife Sherry of Parkesburg, three daughters, four grandchildren Kristen, Kyle, Brandon and R. Michael, two great grandsons Mark Austin and Nicholas and three siblings; Kathryn Clark, Helen Capadona and Rudy Vattilana. She was preceded in death by one grandson Steven G. Keck, Jr. and three brothers, Ben, Frank, and William Vattilana.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10 AM at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 South 17th Avenue, Coatesville, PA 19320.  There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lucy's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkeburg.  Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

Patty: I remember when your dad took us to school on winter days and your mom's Italian dishes. You were always the one in the neighborhood who forgave first and accepted people as they were. God's blessings will shower upon you once again. I will keep you all in prayer.

Barbara
