Joseph N. Henderson, 93, of Atglen, passed away at home on Sunday, April 18, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Brady) Henderson who died in 2001. They shared 54 years of marriage together. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John Henderson and Johanna Roche Henderson. He was preceded in death by two siblings; Anna Huhn and John Henderson.
Joe attended West Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He was employed for 44 years as a pipe fitter with the Steam Fitters Local Union 420 of Philadelphia retiring in 1989. During his career he helped build the Nuclear Power Plant in Limerick, PA and the Veteran's Stadium. Joe volunteered at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital and the Chester County Senior Golf Tournament.
Joe was a 30 year resident of Atglen and a faithful member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Parkesburg. He was also a member of Council 3132 Knights of Columbus in Upper Darby where he served as the Grand Knight. He was a member of Men of Malvern for 70 years and served as the Thanksgiving Retreat Captain from 1980-2010.
He was preceded in death by one son Joseph M. Henderson (Martha) of Levittown, PA. He is survived by three children; Margaret Mullarkey (the late James) of Palm Coast, FL, John J. Henderson (Elaine) of West Berlin, NJ and Thomas M. Henderson (Geri) of Atglen, PA. 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W. 2nd Ave., Parkesburg, PA on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:30 AM with a viewing at the church from 9:30 AM to the time of the service. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Seven Dolors Cemetery, Parkesburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joe's memory to the Malvern Retreat House, 315 S. Warren Ave., Malvern, PA 19355.
