Jim has been a friend for at least 70 years. We took our best girls to White Crystal Beach right after high school graduation and only a couple of months ago he told me that he is blessed. Jim has been a man of his community and church all his life. We are diminished by his passing.

Landis Family,  We send our deepest sympathy to the Landis family and friends.   It is with great respect and honor to know Jim as a dear friend.  Someone we find it easy to talk with and strike up a conversation with.   It is hard to find the words that will comfort you, may you know we hold you close in thought.  Hold on to all the memories you had with your loved one.   Deepest Sympathies, Tina and Gary Myers

You got out at the right time, loved the hemp conversations we had, same with politics, thanks for caring enough about our education to chase Slim and I with a stick when we were trying to bag a senior class. Great memory in Virginia with Mr Baldts class, I think you chased us up a tree then. Big hugs, say hello to my dad and brothers, give Mrs Landis a big hug from me too.

I had the privilege of knowing your dad through his work at the Parkesburg Point. He was a Mighty Man of God, who shared God’s love with so many children at the Point. He was an incredible servant and a tremendous blessing to so many. Nancy Sykes

Jim was one of the nicest men I have ever known.  He always had a smile and some wise words/laughs to share.  He hated conflict and being a Township Supervisor was difficult when he had to make unpopular decisions. RIP Jim you surely deserve it as you have served others most of your life.

I will remember Uncle Jim’s happy energy, his huge smile and the way he made you feel when he gave you a hug. He was supportive and present when I was caring for mommom, he came to every dinner party we had. He helped me plan her surprise birthday party. I looked forward to seeing him, he was the kind of guy that just made you happy to be around. I will also remember all of the stories mommom and pawpaw shared with me when they were young. I recall helping him once at Harrison House service and thinking how much energy he had to do church there and then to go to church after that at UOPC. It was evident he cared so much for others. There is no doubt in my mind that he is having a joyous celebration seeing all the ones he loves in Heaven, including all of his puppy dogs.

Thinking of you Chris, Bob, Holly and Brittany.

So sad to see Jim has passed away. I was just thinking about him last week. What a wonderful friend he was. Spent many evenings playing cards when our children were young. I remember going to the horse sale in New Holland, and he wanted to buy these 2 miniature ponies. We were in his Lincoln convertible and he said we could put the top down and put the ponies in the back seat! Many fond memories.

Dear Landis Family, I had the distinct pleasure of knowing Jim through the world of local governance. He was a rock of calm in the sometimes stormy waters of politics. Just his voice tone would prompt others to pay attention. Soft but resolute. Always mindful of others even in the parlance of differing opinion. So rare now. I will miss our occasional conversations. Please accept my condolences and thanks for sharing Jim with us. With sympathy and gratitude, John Hagan, Mayor- Borough of Parkesburg.
