Sending my thoughts and prayers to the family.   Mr. Porecca was a good friend of my grandfather, Ed Wilgis, and I was fortunate enough as a young girl to spend a lot of time with he and my grandparents at many Purple Heart Events yearly in Harrisburg as well as all over the US in the 60's and 70's.   Through them, I learned of the great sacrifices these men made in WWII and saw them do great work for others in need throughout their lives.  I was just looking at photos of them recently and am so grateful for the  memories I have.  May all the great memories you have see you thru as you celebrate this great man's life.  God Bless You.

Nancy thought and prayers with youband your family. Kirk Fernitz summed it up well. We will miss a true American Hero, great person and his truly positive force to be around. Every year he would be at the globe on Veterans day (rain or shine. Cold or hot Jim was there). The eloquent reading of the purpose of the day thst he performed. He impressed me from the time I met after I returned from the service. Eventually entrusting me to read the purpose of the day. What an honor it was when he asked me to do this. Providing me with his "original" writing of the purpose to be read. I will miss my commrade and friend at the globe. But I know he will be there in spirt with the commrades who were waiting to welcome him home. Although he is no longer here in body, he touched so many lives that his legacy of honor, duty, patriotism, kindness and his remeberence of others will continue on for generations to come. A salute to commrade James Porreca a man who made a difference world wide and truly was a living legend. I am honored to have know and learned from him. May you now rest in eternal peace commrade.

I had the good fortune of meeting Jim at the Coatesville VA Medical Center, where he was one of the most dedicated and hard-working volunteers in the 90+ year history of the hospital. He genuinely cared for each and every Veteran who came through the doors of the facility. As a Veteran himself, he knew the sacrifices that had been made and his life's work became a mission to support and assist them in any way possible. Jim received numerous awards, recognizing his many, many contributions to the medical center over the span of many years. God bless Jim and his entire family, his was a life well-lived in the service of others. He will be missed. In sympathy, Gary Devansky   Director, Coatesville VAMC (Retired)
