George H. Supplee, Sr., 78, of Romansville and Bradenton, FL, died August 11, 2015 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.  

Born in West Chester, PA on February 19, 1937, he was the son of the late Virginia (Reeves) and George E. Supplee.  

He was predeceased by his first wife Joan Hart Supplee in 1993.  

Survived by his wife Barbara Weinman Supplee and children Kathleen Supplee (Philip Hutchison) Newark, DE; George H. Supplee, Jr. (Robin) Romansville, Kelly Supplee (Robert Scott) Chadds Ford; Karen Fischetti (Daniel) Downingtown, Kristy Hertzog (Christopher) Downingtown; Jonathan Weinman (Hope) Marshfield, MA; Dr. David Weinman (Stacy) Westfield, NJ; Pamela Weinman Glenmont, NY; Kristina Flathers (Christopher) Wilmington, DE and grandchildren Sydney and Alex Supplee, Payton Stong, Ava and Camryn Hertzog, Jacob and Rachel Weinman and Henry and Kathryn Flathers.

Also survived by brothers William Supplee (Romansville), Robert Supplee, Esq. (West Chester), John Supplee (Romansville), Richard Supplee (Romansville) and Peter Supplee (Romansville) and several nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Downingtown High School and the University of Delaware with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.  He was a member of the Army ROTC at the university and upon graduation he served as a 2nd Lt. while on active duty.  He worked at Philco Corporation and then worked in the space division of General Electric for several years and was proud of the work that he did in helping the country land on the moon.  He was the engineer for the former Coatesville Hospital and was the engineer in charge of building the new Brandywine Hospital.  He then went to the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE where he was the engineer in charge of completing the building of that new hospital.  He retired from the duPont Hospital in 2004.  In 1975, he founded Highland Construction, a housing construction company which his son joined and continues to manage.  

George enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and loved the time he spent at his home in Florida.  

He was a member of Brandywine-Goddard Lodge #383 F&AM and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon.  He was a member of the Romansville United Methodist Church and was the treasurer of the church, a position he held for many years.  

George will be remembered most of all for his love of his family.  

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in George's memory to the Building Fund at the Romansville United Methodist Church, 1859 Strasburg Road, Coatesville PA 19320 or Cardiovascular Medicine Research, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, The Jefferson Foundation, 125 S. 9th Street, Suite 700, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

The funeral service and burial will be private.  The family is inviting George's extended family, friends and colleagues to join in a celebration of life at the family house at 1885 Shadyside Road, West Bradford Township on Saturday, August 15, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.

It was with such sorrow that I learned of George's death.  I am sure the pain you must now feel is tempered by all the wonderful memories you have of this extrordinary person.  I was very fortunate to have known George from working with him at the hospital.  He was such a genuine and wonderful person with a quick wit and welcoming smile.  I feel so fortunate for having had the pleasure of knowing him.  Please know that the extended Supplee family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I was so sorry to hear of George's passing.  I remember his energy and ever-present smile as he raced through the halls of the A.I. duPont Hospital.  No matter how busy he was, he always had time for a quick chat with a co-worker.  My thoughts and prayers are with Barbara and the extended Supplee family.

So sorry to hear of this loss. Sending prayers to the Supplee family. I grew up knowing Mr Supplee he was such a nice man and will truly be missed. He has left on this earth a Great family such kind and good people  I am so fortunate to know all his children..Kath is one of my best friends truly a good person. Praying for all the family...............

I am so sorry to hear of George's passing. I remember him as he raced through the halls of the A.I. duPont Hospital and how he always took the time to chat or a quick hello.  My thoughts and prayers are with Barbara and the entire Supplee family.  May you and your family find comfort and peace in the memories and knowing that he is now the arms of our loving Lord watching over each and every one of his loved ones.

So very sorry to hear this sad news.  George was a walking angel on this earth so I can only imagine what his role is in heaven.  What an outstanding spirt!  I remember his contagious smile and happy demeanor.  I will never forget George seeing me in the halls of duPont Hospital and asking, "How ya doin kid?"

I was so very sad to hear the news of the passing of George.  George hired me over 28 years ago and welcomed me to Nemours.  He was always wonderful to work for and I spent 5 wonderful years working for George.  He was always so good to me.  Barbara, I send my sincerest condolences to you and the family.  I remember the day you and George wed!  Blessings to all of you and thinking of you.
