George F. Barrow, Jr.
George F. Barrow Jr., 71, of Gap, PA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. He was the husband of Bertha E. Wolford Barrow for over 48 years. Born in West Grove, PA, he was the son of the late George F. Barrow Sr. and Isabel Louise Gift Barrow.
George grew up in Landenberg, PA., and graduated from Kennett Square High School in 1968. He retired as a steel worker from Mittal Steel Company in Coatesville, formerly Lukens and Accelor. He was a member of the Landenberg United Methodist Church before moving to Gap, PA. He succeeded his father as coach for the AvonGrove Little League for a number of years. He was an avid car lover and enjoyed local car shows where he displayed his restored 1967 Ford Mustang. He loved Christmas and dressing up as Santa for his grandchildren. He loved all things Harry Potter and waited until his dying day for his acceptance to Hogwarts. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, vacations to the mountains and spending time at the beach with his family. He was a food lover through and through. He had a particular love of homemade spaghetti sauce by Michelle. Hers was his favorite. He put others before himself, always. Until his last day he asked of others before he thought of himself.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha, and his children, Bruce L. Barrow of Gap, and Mandy (Ronald E.) Giannattasio of Smyrna, DE. 8 grandchildren- Hope Barrow, Jeremiah Barrow, Josephine Giannattasio, Kyle Barrow, Nikolas Giannattasio, Nathan Barrow, Braedon Giannattasio, and Zakk Barrow. 2 great-grandchildren- Jameson Geesey and Aubree Skowood, and siblings, Janet Mahala of Elkton, MD, Peter Barrow of Toughkennamon, and Robert Barrow of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by siblings, Edward O. Barrow and Katherine E. Price.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice and Community Care, c/o The Essa Flory Center, 685 Good Dr., P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA.
