Edward Joseph Wallace, Sr.

Edward Joseph Wallace, Sr., 90, of Wilmington, DE, died on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE. He was the husband of Agnes Crossen Wallace with whom he shared 21 years of marriage and his first wife, the late Genevieve Jones Wallace with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. Born in Larksville, PA he was the son of the late Benjamin and Phyllis Galinski Wallace.


Ed proudly served with the Navy Seabees in the Pacific on the Island of Siapan during WWII. He was employed, for 30 years at the Coatesville VA Medical Center in the dietary department. He loved to work in his garden raising vegetables and flowers and grafting apples. He was very proud of his record for grafting 64 different varieties of apples on one tree. He also enjoyed hunting and ice fishing. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Wilmington, DE.


He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children; Edward J. Wallace, Jr. and wife Carol of Coatesville, PA, Lenore Marie Wallace of Honey Brook, PA, stepson John B. Ross and wife Scarlett of Atlanta, GA, three grandchildren; Victor Wallace, Valerie Barlow and Jessica Riggins, one step grandson, Ian Ross, three great grandchildren and two siblings; Vincent Wallace of Wilkes Barre, PA and Josephine Michalek of Kingston, PA. He was preceded in death by one grandson Justin Riggins and eight siblings; Mary Coach, Helen Pastula, Elizabeth Corsetty, Anna Yenalevitch, Leo, Joseph, John and Benjamin Wallace.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:00 am from the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 209 W. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA followed by interment at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Coatesville, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing which will be held on Thursday evening, February 16, 7 to 9:00 pm at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg and also Friday morning from 10 to 10:45 am at the funeral home.
