Dennis Ward Shead, 75, of Gap, PA, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was the husband of the late Irene Greenway Shead who died in 2015. They shared 45 years of marriage together. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George and Margaret Beese Shead.
Dennis grew up in Philadelphia. He started out working as a welder at Philadelphia Tram Rail for many years before changing profession as a certified nursing assistant. He worked in several local nursing homes including Hickory House of Honey Brook and St. Martha's in Downingtown. He enjoyed going to the YMCA , dancing, and spending time at the senior citizen center teaching them how to knit and crochet. His greatest joy in life was his family which he loved with all his heart. He was a man of God. He was the most loving, caring, giving, selfless person anyone could’ve ever been blessed to have known. He was loved by many.
He was a member of the Faith Community United Methodist Church in Atglen, PA.
He is survived by three children; James Solomon Shead and wife Belinda, Stephanie Leigh Shead and husband Ronald Lee King and Vanessa Beatrice Shead, eight grandchildren; Jessica King, Austen Procyson, Savanah King, Veronica King, Dalten Procyson, Solomon Shead, Layla Edwards and Maximus Shead, five great grandchildren; Dusten Procyson, Bryella Procyson, Journey Jennings, Kayden Procyson and Daimen Procyson and three brothers; Daniel Shead of Philadelphia, George Shead of Arizona and Gary Shead of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by one brother Richard Shead.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the Parkesburg United Methodist Church, 411, W. Main St. Parkesburg, with visitation starting at the church at 11:00 AM.
