Buffy Dew Ewing (Thompson)
Buffy Dew Ewing (Thompson) of Pearland, Texas, passed away on June 8, 2015 at the Houston Hospice after a courageous eight year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was the wife of Thomas Brook Thompson. Born July 19, 1971 in West Chester, PA. She was the daughter of William O. Ewing, III of West Chester, and the late Nancy Adams Lane.
She graduated from Coatesville Area High School in 1989, and from Ithaca College, New York with degrees in Communication and Exercise Science. She then attended Indiana University and received her Master’s Degree. She completed an internship at the Texas Medical Center and then made her home in Houston Texas. She was employed with Thermo Scientific as a clinical consultant at the time of her death.
She was a member of several professional organizations and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Houston.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her son, Drake, step-mother Mary Ewing of West Chester, step-father Ron Lane of Strasburg; step-sister, Heather Lane and step-niece Jill, of Florida; father and mother-in-law Paul and Sandra Thompson of Gordonville, Pa. She also is survived by an aunt, Glenna Adams of Coatesville, first cousins Christopher Adams and his wife Rita of Lititz, and Marilou Horblinski and husband Jonathan of Coatesville; second cousins Caitlin and CJ Adams and Dana, Shelby and Zachary Horblinski. She is survived by two close and dear friends Patti Hensley of Downingtown, and Jay Obendorfer of Nashville, TN who were considered family.
Buffy traveled extensively for her work and also for pleasure, visiting her family and many friends. Her college and high school friends remained a constant support for her during her arduous battle with her disease, traveling to Texas many times, lending their love, strength, and support. Buffy has been an inspiration to many whose lives she touched, and she will be sadly missed.
The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at the Houston Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given to Buffy while she was a patient there.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Service in Buffy’s honor on June 27, 2015 at 2 PM at Wagontown Union Chapel, 469 W. Kings Highway, Coatesville, PA.
