Betty Jean Stackhouse Wilde

September 24, 1931 — April 27, 2018

Betty Jean Stackhouse Wilde, 86, of Parkesburg, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2018.
She was the wife of the late James Kirk Wilde.  Born in Martin's Corner she was the daughter of the late Norman A. and Verna M. Criswell Stackhouse.

She was a graduate of Scott High School, class of 1949, and the Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She worked as a Staff RN at the hospital and later in private practice for Dr. Ephrim Braverman and Dr. Alan Goldfine, retiring in 2000.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Parkesburg where she served as Superintendent of Sunday School, Teacher, Elder, Youth Director, Choir member, Womens Association, and Activities Chairman.  She was involved with the 75th and 100th anniversary events at the church.

She was a member of the Parkesburg Area Business Association serving as vice president, treasure and secretary, was chairman of the Beautification Committee and organized two historical tours of Parkesburg. She was a member of the Chris Penn Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, the original Octorara Historical Society, and helped form the Friends of the Parkesburg Library. She was the first presiding chairman for the fund drive to build the new library.

She served on the Executive Board of the Parkesburg Centennial Celebration and was chairman of the Christmas Lights Committee.  She was a brownie and girl scout leader. Her special gift was that of a caregiver to many.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon L., wife of Miles Reinhart Jr., of Cochranville, a son James N., husband of Dr. Amy Chaballa Wilde, of Parkesburg, five grandchildren, Gretchen L., wife of Joseph Torres of Macungie, Matthew K. Reinhart of Christiana, Lindsay, Joseph and Abby Wilde of Parkesburg, four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Haydn, Alex and Mason Torres of Macungie,  a sister, Janet, wife of Willard Marsh of Parkesburg and her adopted son, Jeff Ramsden of Gap.  She was preceded in death by siblings, Harold and Norman Stackhouse Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11:00am from the Parkesburg Presbyterian Church, 511 Main St. Parkesburg. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
