Bettie J. Dowlin, 85, formerly of Downingtown, died on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the widow of William O. Dowlin who passed away in 2002. Born in Downingtown, she was the daughter of the late Linn and Clara Fisher Gibson.
Bettie was a 1944 graduate of the Downingtown High School. Down through the years, she had attended the Coatesville Presbyterian Church, KingsWay Independent Church and East Brandywine Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter Linda D. Rummel of Coatesville, daughter-in-law Debra Dowlin of Bear, DE, three grandchildren; Chris Rummel, Joshua Dowlin and Alexandra Dowlin and one sister, Roxanne Wisler of Exton. She was preceded in death by her son Craig O. Dowlin and three siblings; Linn Gibson, Jr., Leona McCue and Eleanor Gabel.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 2 pm from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with a viewing from 1 to 2 pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to County Corrections Gospel Missions, P.O. Box 1136, Coatesville, PA 19320.

To my mother-in-law Bettie Dowlin
Mom, I am so happy we were able to spend special time together after Craig passed. We did get very close and I enjoyed as well as you did the scripture versus and prayers we shared together and the tears.
Please say hello to Craig for me and let him know how much I and the children love him and that we miss him dearly. We are doing okay. We rejoice in the day we will be together again.
I will miss you for you were my close tie to Craig in heaven. He loves you dearly and you were always number one on his list. I promised him I would try and fill his shoes when and if he would go to heaven before me, visiting you and bringing you your Sunday muffin and coffee.
I am so happy for the time we shared together and I know it made him very happy as well as he looked over us. I will miss you. Thank you for being a wonderful mother to me, Craig, Linda, and our children. I look forward to seeing you in heaven. Love, Debbie
