Bernard Patrick Murtaugh, 78, of Honey Brook, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Coatesville VA Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Flora M. Snyder Murtaugh with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Bernard B. and Margaret Maloney Murtaugh.
Formerly of Havertown, Mr. Murtaugh, served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was self employed, most of his working years, as an auto mechanic retiring in 1995. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Parkesburg.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by four children; Kathy, wife of John Gates of Havertown, Nancy, wife of Tom Marsh of Honey Brook, Bernard Murtaugh and wife Lori of Honey Brook and David Murtaugh and wife Barbara of Gap, 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and four siblings; Elizabeth Lynn of Havertown, Vincent Murtaugh of Bryn Mawr, Donald Murtaugh of Havertown and Paul Murtaugh of Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 11:00 am from Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W. Second Ave. Parkesburg, Pa. 19365 followed by interment at the Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the church from 10:00 am to the time of the service.
