83 Years
Sadsburyville, Pennsylvania

George I. Wills, 83, of Sadsburyville, PA, died on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Brandywine Hospital.  He was the widower of the late Mary Lou McGinn Wills. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George  W. and Helen Blair Wills.
George was born in Philadelphia and raised between Delaware County and Seaford, DE a place that he loved and was able to visit and share with his family many happy memories of his years growing up on the Nanticoke River. As a teenager he was a catcher for the Seaford Seagulls. He told us quite often how good he was and could have gone pro if it wasn’t for his knee injury. He joined the Navy when he was 18 serving as a first gunners mate on the USS Braine for eight years. While in the Navy he married his wife of almost 50 years, Mary Lou.  Settling in Upper Darby George became the father of 5 children and an Upper Darby Police Officer – which in those days was more than just police work, they also rode on “the wagon” which took care of medical emergencies. His name is on a plaque at the police station as being the officer who delivered the most babies in the township. After he retired from the police force in 1985 he moved to Chester County. He continued to keep up with the happenings on the force by joining the FOP. His love for baseball, especially the Phillies, continue through his life along with reading, camping, football (the Eagles), and spending time with his kids, grand-kids, great-grandchildren, his sister Nancy, and most importantly, his dog – Candie while she was with him. His sense of humor and kind words were what drew others to him extending his family even more. Most of whom now have nick names that only
George and those around him who knew where the names came from call them. Once befriended by him you got to listen to his many stories of his time in the Navy and on the police force. We are so grateful that he was able to complete all but two things on his bucket list these last few months. They were to reenlist in the Navy and to go back on the Police Force – two of the strongest forces in his life that along with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dogs, made him the special man he was.

He is survived by his children; Donna Wills, Linda Wills and Donna Fisher all of Folsom, PA, Ruth Wills of Ocala, FL, Melissa Trice of Ocala, FL and George M. Wills of Sadsburyville, three grandchildren; Mike Wills and wife Jeannette of Ephrata, PA, Sarah Wills of Ephrata and Melissa Reem and husband Joshua of Elizabethtown, PA, five great grandchildren; Bryce, Tyler, Emily, Devin and Jayce and one sister Nancy Kelley of Secane, PA. He was preceded in death by one daughter Karen Heyman.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 11:00am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 10 to 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society,  P.O. I am so sorry for your loss. I know it is tough losing a loved one. I would like to give you some words of encouragement that helped me cope. A lot of people have been told things by others all their life and they believe what they are told just because they want to believe it and it sounds wonderful. What I would like to tell you though is not my opinion or my thoughts but God’s thoughts from the Bible, so please look at your Bible and see the truth. God promises that we will live again but it is not like what most people think. Please look at Revelation chapter 21 and verses 3 & 4 very closely. If you notice here it talks about death and pain being no more now ask yourself is there pain and death in Heaven? That scripture is talking about right here on Earth a kingdom that will be set up and ruled by Jesus that will rid mankind of death and pain, please look at Daniel 2 verse 44 and see that this is a real kingdom. Donna, Bubbles, Donna F, Ruthie, Missy, and George, As you all know I have been down this rough and bumpy road with all of you for a little over 4 years now. I was helping in anyway that I could for anything that Pop needed or wanted. I got him some milkshakes from McDonald's when he wanted them. I helped out when George needed help bathing him, getting him dressed, or just coming over to check on him and talking to him. I can't say that I was there until the very end but I was there almost until the end. I promised Pop that I would take care of his boy. I will hold that promise as long as I can.I will continue to be there for all of you as I know that you are there for me. I loved Pop just like I loved my Grandpop, He adored my kids especially his little Blondie (Melinda) and Tiffany for her excellent spaghetti. As Pop would say "that spaghetti was great." I won't ever forget him, he has a very special place in my heart that will always be there. Joey was one of Pop's favorites he always complimented him for cutting the grass or helping George to get him ready for his day or get ready to go to bed at night. I loved just loved to sit and listen to all his baseball and war stories but, my favorite was the story of him delivering the most babies on "the wagon". He had a heart of gold and was one of the sweetest men that I ever met and I am forever greatful that I got to become a part of his life and his family. Pop, You left us rather fast, I am going to miss you like crazy and it broke my heart when you left us but I know now that you are in a much better place. I will always remember your charming smile and your caring heart. Gone but not forgotten. We love you always, Sonya Joe, Joey, Tiffany, and Melinda R.I.P. Pop~~ Always in my heart. I love you Pop

We didnt get to see each other alot,it could be years,  but when we did it was like we never missed a beat. He will be missed!! All my love to the family. Please let me know if you need anything!!
