Emil "Chick" Tkachick, 91, of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 while under the care of the Hickory House Nursing Home of Honey Brook.  He was the beloved husband of Gladys (Fussell) Tkachick, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. 

Born in Garfield, N.J., he was the son of the late Mary (Zelenak) and Peter Tkachick. 

Chick served honorably in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre of operations.  He was employed as a Licensed Aircraft Mechanic.

He was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his son, Robert P. Tkachick, husband of Susan, of Newark, DE.  

Memorial services will be announced at a future date.

i did not know your husband and father but saw that he was a fellow U. S. Navy veteran and that he served in WWII. Please accept my condolences on his passing and I would like to offer thanks to him for his wartime service on behalf of a grateful nation.

I was Chick's roommate at Hickory House, and we had quite a few good talks before his unexpected passing. My condolences to Joy and his family.  May God give you comfort and peace.

Deepest condolences on the passing of Chick.  I was a flight attendant at Capitol Air and resided in Downingtown for a while. I enjoyed flying with Chick for many years. He was a "luv", such a gentleman.  Last saw him a few yrs ago at one of the reunions.

I, also, was a flight attendant at Capitol in the '70's and was always delighted when I found out that Chick would be on my crew.  What a delightful man he was; always so pleasant to talk to and very polite. My condolences to his family.

Robert and Sue,  I'm so sorry about your father - Chick was a wonderful, talented and interesting person - a true renaissance man.  Through the years his devotion to his family and his kindness to others were a real blessing.  I never tired of hearing stories about his travels and projects.  I will miss and keep you in my prayers.  May God's Blessings and love to you both.  Julie and John  Manta
