C. T. Middleton

CT “Clarence” Middleton, 80, a former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Fair Housing (HUD) Washington, D.C., passed away Sunday, 3 August 2014, in the presence of his life long, Best Friend, Dr. Robert H. Hanna, his lovely wife, Doris H. Hanna and his younger daughter, Tatiana “Tanya” Middleton.

Mr. Middleton was an Appointee to the former Administrations of Presidents George H. W. Bush and the late Ronald Reagan. Additionally, he was an Appointee to the former Administration of Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Governor Richard “Dick” Thornburgh to the Department of General Services, Government Contracts Division. After a brief retirement, Mr. Middleton was recruited to be the Executive Director of the Cape May Housing Authority, New Jersey and the Harve de Grace Housing Authority, Maryland. His earlier careers involved him with the Energy Industry, C+D Batteries, Plymouth Meeting, as their Purchasing Manager, General Electric, King of Prussia, as a NASA Project Engineer, Atlas Chemical, Wilmington, DE and Lukens Steel Company.

Born in Coatesville, Mr. Middleton was the elder son, of the late Clarence Middleton and Lillian Middleton Pennington. He graduated from Scott High School and degreed from Antioch University.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years between high school and college, during the Korean Conflict and continued serving for eight years in the Air Force Reserves.

He was a member and former Elder of both Second and First
Presbyterian Churches, West Chester, PA.

Mr. Middleton was a former member of Cape May Rotary (Past Pres.), West Chester Kiwanis, Coatesville Jaycees, a Mason, Philadelphia Purchasing Management Assoc. (Past Pres.), National Purchasing Management Assoc. (Office Elect) and Thursday Retired Men’s Club.

Being a Proud ultra-conservative Republican, Mr. Middleton’s interest centered on Politics, Community, and World Affairs. His Hobbies included Aviation, Football, Baseball, Golf. He was a passionate reader, especially of James Patterson and Tom Clancy. Most of all, he loved fishing in New Jersey, with his brother, Curtis and his nephews.

CT is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Rose Nixon Middleton and younger daughter, Tatiana “Tanya” Middleton, both of West Bradford Twp., mother, Lillian Middleton Pennington and his brother, Curtis Middleton, Cape May, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Ann Middleton, sister, Alberta “Peggy” Hines, “adopted Father”, Mentor and Friend Kurt Strauss and “adopted sister” and Personal Compass, Florence Dekosky.

Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, 11 September at The Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street, Parkesburg, Pa 19365. Internment will be Private.
