Shirley was a devoted Roman Catholic by faith and a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Parkesburg where she belonged to the Sodality of Our Lady of Consolation. She also enjoyed cooking, trips to the Jersey Shore, Bingo and the casinos.

She is survived by five children; Grace Ann Sagnor of West Chester, Patricia Milanese of Coatesville, Bernadette, wife of John Sardella of Downingtown, Benedetto Rigoroso and fiance Kim of Coatesville, Letitia, wife of Kris Ray of Kimberton, 10 grandchildren; Gina Marie, Johnny, Kara, Alexandra, Theresa, Gabriel III, Shannon, Kristen, Lauren and Chelsey, one sister; Jane Mullen of Parkesburg, one sister-in-law Dawn Mullen of Parkesburg and one brother-in-law Jerome Rigoroso of New York. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Gabriel P. Milanese, Jr., two sisters; Lillian Mowrey and Barbara Mullen and two brothers; George and Robert Mullen.

The family wants to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion given to their mother by her caregivers Kippy and Billie Jo, Dr. John Khalifa, Dr. Michel Hoessty and staff, the entire Mainline Health System and Ashbridge Manor Senior Living Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 11am from Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 West Second Avenue, Parkesburg, PA 19365.  Followed by interment at the Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing on Thursday evening April 24th, from 6 to 9pm at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA.

My mom and Shirley sat with each other every Friday at bingo. When my mom passed away in 2001 on a Friday, I went to bingo and told your mom about because I felt it was important to tell them why your not coming. A true Bingo player never misses that night out. My love for your Mom is genuine and I will miss her.

To the Rigoroso family,

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the recent death of your mother. She was an inspiration to me as a young widow of many children. Shirley still was able to keep her faith strong and continue her belief in God throughout her struggles. May you find peace in knowing that you have another angel in heaven watching over each and every one of you.

Dear Rigoroso Family:

I never knew your mother without a smile on her face and I always enjoyed talking to her and hoping she would have some of that Lasagna for me as I passed her house while she sat on the porch with a doggie on her lap... She was very kind and will be missed. My sympathies to you all.....

Dear Grace Ann and Family and Jane Mullen,
So sorry to learn of your mother's/sister's passing. I remember your mom as we were neighbors before you moved to 2nd Avenue and as an aide at the high school. I have always admired her strength and courage in raising you 5 children after your dad passed and her positive attitude in battling her illness through several years. This I know-she loves you all dearly. May your lifetime of beautiful memories give you comfort now and know that many friends are praying for you all.
