Charles J. "Jiggs" Johnson, 89, of Akron, Pa., passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Maple Farm Nursing Home of Akron, where he had resided for the past two years. He was the widower of the late Marian Clevenstine Johnson, who passed away in 2000.
Born in Westwood, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Clara Townsley Johnson. He served honorably in the European Theater during WWII in the US Army with the 99th Inf. Div., 395th Reg., from 1942 to 1946. He was employed as a Truck Driver for Coatesville Plate Washer Co., the Brown Brothers and International Mills Services.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4480 of Parkesburg.
His hobbies include fishing, antiquing, deer hunting and working on his crafts.
He is survived by two children: Janet E. Grow, wife of Ronald, of Honey Brook and Dorothy L. Musser, wife of Michael of Ephrata; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Upper Octorara Cemetery of Parkesburg. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held at the Funeral Home from 10 until 11 AM.
