Gertrude M. Rettew, 90, formerly of Parkesburg, died on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the home of her son, in Christiana, PA. She was the wife of the late Donald G. Rettew who died in 1993. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Zachery and Minnie Hunsicker Hayes.


An area resident all her life and a 1941 graduate of Scott High in Coatesville, she was a member of the Parkesburg VFW Auxiliary, Parkesburg Fire Company Auxiliary, the Christiana American Legion and the Parkesburg United Methodist Church.


Gertrude is survived by two sons, Donald G. Rettew, Jr. and wife Meta "Fizz" of Key West, Florida and Dale R. Rettew and wife Barbara of Christiana, seven grandchildren, nine great grand children and one great great grandson.


Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 W. Main Street, Parkesburg, PA with a viewing from 10 to 11 AM. Interment will follow at the Upper Octorara Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
