Nancy Teel Murphy, 85, formerly of Cochranville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in Honey Brook, PA. She was the wife of the late R. Stephen Murphy who passed away in 2019, and with whom she shared over 27 years of marriage. Born in West Chester, PA, on June 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Jean Powers Teel.
Following graduation from Avon Grove High School in 1956 where she was a member of the National Honor Society, she started a career with the Du Pont Company in Wilmington, DE, which lasted over 37 years.
Nancy loved horses and always looked forward to the Kentucky Derby.
She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Parkesburg and attended services at Saint Malachi Church in Cochranville.
She is survived by two children, Brad Murphy of Exton, PA, and Stephanie (Mike) Kern of Honey Brook, PA, grandchildren, Steven (Casey) Kern of Honey Brook, and Alex (David) Hickey of Emmaus, PA, one great-grandson; Hunter Hickey also of Emmaus, PA and a twin sister, Eddie T. (Harry) Zunino of Avondale, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Malachi Church, 76 St. Malachi Road, Cochranville, PA, with a visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow in the adjacent cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Cochranville Fire Company, 3135 Limestone Rd., Cochranville, PA, 19330.
