James Richard 'Dick' Saylor, 92 of Parkesburg, died on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, while under hospice care at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. He was the husband of F. Patricia (McGrath) Saylor, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late Harry William and Reba (Galloway) Saylor. Dick was a 1940 graduate of Parkesburg High School and graduated from Union College, N.Y. in 1945, after serving in the Navy during World War II as a radio mate. In 1946, he married Pat and they resided in Parkesburg until 2011 when they moved to Harrison Senior Living in Coatesville. Dick worked in the payroll department at the former Lukens Steel Company until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Parkesburg United Methodist Church and served as Past Worshipful Master of Goddard Lodge #383 F. & A.M. Additionally, he enjoyed collecting stamps, coins and postcards. Surviving him, in addition to his wife, Pat are two sons, Richard (Cindy) and Robert (Michele); two daughters, Nancy Matthews (James) and Priscilla Mullen; and five grandchildren, Amanda and Adam Saylor, Matthew Mullen, and Damian and Phoebe Matthews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. William Saylor.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 6pm at the Parkesburg United Methodist Church, 411 Main St., Parkesburg, PA 19365 with visitation from 5 to 6pm. Masonic services will take place at 6pm followed by church services. In his memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkesburg United Methodist Church at the above address.

I worked with Mr Saylor briefly at Brandywine Security before getting a job at Lukens. He then handed me my paycheck along with Mr. Worrell. Always smiling. My condolences to the family.
