Pedro Luis Torres, 78, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Pedro was born in Huanuco, Peru on April 12, 1945. He was the son of Pedro Torres Sr. and Isabel Fernandez de Torres.

He came to America in 1969, where he met his beloved wife Palmira Mata Torres. Our Lord and Savior called Pedro home on their 54th wedding anniversary. Pedro graduated from Mariscal Sucre High School in 1969. He then studied electrical work at Lincoln Tech Institute while working at Olin Chemicals in Fogelsville, Pa. When Olin Chemicals closed their doors, Pedro found employment at Tarkett in Whitehall, PA, where he worked for 20 years as a machine operator. During his time at Tarkett, Pedro also worked at Sears as a mechanic. Tarkett closed their doors, and Pedro was then employed with RCN for 7 years, where he later retired from the workforce.

Pedro enjoyed spending time with his family, attending church with his wife, keeping in touch with family in Peru, playing pool, poker, fishing, and grilling. He had an unforgettable sense of humor, a caring heart, and always embraced everyone with love and compassion. He was always just a call or text away. Pedro’s eleven grandchildren were so dear to him. He made it a priority to always support them in their school, sports, and religious events.

Pedro is survived by his wife, Palmira Torres, four children; Pedro Torres Jr and wife Krista, Joseph Torres and wife Gretchen, Michael Torres and wife Kelly, and Isabel Szoke and husband Brandon as well as his eleven grandchildren; Caleb Torres, Haydn Torres, Ashley Szoke, Austin Szoke, Nathan Torres, Alex Torres, Ethan Torres, Matthew Torres, Trevor Torres, Mason Torres, and Jaxston Torres. Condolences

When Papa Torres came back home from Peru, he told us all how family is the most important thing in life. I will never forget that and will always hold that close to me. My condolences goes out to all that loved him as he made an impact on so many lives. Pam you held your vows so beautifully and were such a devoted wife for 54 years of marriage. Pedro was so blessed to have you by his side. Izzy, Mike, Pedro, and Joe you were all such great children to Pedro! He loved you all so much. This is so hard… we will get through this together as family. Pedro was a stand up father, grandfather father in law, husband brother, friend, worker, and more! He will remain in our hearts forever ❤️
