Marlene Rose "Duke" Taggart, 73, of Honey Brook, PA, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 29, 2024, in Reading, PA.  She was the wife of Barry L. Taggart for over 54 years.  Born in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Gladys Brown Doyle.

Marlene was a homemaker and a member of  Faith Community Methodist Church in Atglen, PA.

She enjoyed boating, camping, side by side, cooking, snowmobiling, being outside working in her flower beds, and taking hikes. She was a dart shark.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Dawn (Dave) Fasick of Old Town, MD, and Barry Jr. (Eshea) Taggart of Honey Brook, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way, and siblings, Brenda (Wilson) Quickel of Gap, PA, Sandra (Kenny) Dickey of Lancaster, PA, and Robert (Lisa) Doyle of Huntington, PA.  She was preceded in death by siblings, William, Alma, David, Larry, Richard, and Nancy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at Upper Octorara Cemetery in Parkesburg.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Faith Community Church, 332 Chester St., Atglen, PA, 19310.

Sorry to hear of Marlene's passing. I remember her from my time living near the Doyles and Taggarts. She was always fun and always loved Barry. I pray for healing and strength for her entire family.

Sis this was so sudden and unexpected. I will truly miss you until we meet again in God's kingdom Lisa and I could see our brother Larry saying in the wee hours Monday morning ( Duke what the hell you doing here!) Know that we love you.

My heart aches for the whole family! I’m sure Barry has a feeling like never before! It’s almost about not teal  feeling. for me. If I can do anything at all to help Please let me know. Time means nothing now to me. I’ll miss Marlene’s stories at the beauty shop. I always looked forward to her coming! We enjoyed seeing you guys at the bay! Too many good people going too soon ! Duke was such a beautiful soul of a person and will be very missed. My memories of her at the races will always live on. Praying for you guys during this difficult time. Barry, she is up there with my Dad watching over us all, I promise. -Whitney

Dear Barry and family,  Marlene was a wonderful childhood friend and companion. We spent hours together doing all the wonderful things children do and I will always remember her fondly.  My sincere condolences to her loved ones. May loving peace be with you always.

Aunt Marlene,

I am so sad that another aunt/uncle has passed. I’m so sorry I haven’t called you or sent you back a Christmas card. I just hope you know that I love you. Thank you for coming to my wedding. Thank you for calling and sending me cards every year. Give my daddy a kiss in heaven. We will all be together again. That is the hope we have in our faith.
