Lydia McCoury Davidson

Lydia McCoury Davidson, of Glenmoore and formerly of Upper Oxford Township, Chester County, died on Friday, April 27, 2012, four days after her 93rd birthday, at the Tel-Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook, Pennsylvania.  Born on April 23, 1919, in Burnsville, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Raphal Malcom and Annalize Webb McCoury.

 
Mrs. Davidson attended schools in Burnsville, North Carolina and the Oxford area in southern Chester County.  She married Charles "Pete" Fairfax Davidson.  Her son Lester predeceased her on October 29, 2010.  Besides a homemaker she was a seamstress in local sewing factories, and enjoyed gardening, especially roses and cooking.  She is a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Coatesville.  
 
She was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Downingtown.  She loved riding motorcycles with her husband Pete.  
 
She was the subject of an extensive oral history interview by the West Nottingham Township Historical Commission for her knowledge of the farms, quarry and schools at and near Nottingham County Park.  
 
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jane L. S. Davidson, Glenmoore, granddaughter Christina Davidson, Glenside, grandson Randy Davidson and his wife Sharon, Wagontown, and two great-grandsons, Hunter and Blaise Davidson.  A sister, Hilma McCoury Campbell, Homeville also survives.  Besides her son Lester, her parents and husband Charles "Pete", eight brothers and three sisters predeceased her: Park, Clayton, Lee, Edgar, John, Frank, Raphal, Junior, Robert, Hettie Broomell, Frances Davidson and Louise Carr.
 
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 11 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Oxford Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing from 10 until 11 AM.
