Lucy May Jones Searles, 93, of East Fallowfield, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Brandywine Hospital. She was the widow of her late husband, Hubert Searles, who passed away in 1993.
Born on Saturday, May 27, 1916 in Ercildoun, she was the daughter of the late William O. Jones and Ida Ella Ruth Jones. An area resident her entire life, she was a 1934 graduate of the Coatesville Area High School. She was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Thomas Clayton, M.D. of Coatesville.
Lucy was an active member of the Ercildoun Church of Christ, founding a Ladies Bible Study and acting as a Song Leader.
She is survived by two sons, Hubert Brad Searles of East Fallowfield and Milton J. Searles, husband of Thea, of East Fallowfield, and Sylvia Lawrence, who she considered to be her daughter; sister, Ida J. Williams of Virginia, and two grandsons, Mikael and Niklas. She was predeceased by three sisters and seven brothers.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Ercildoun Church of Christ, 750 Doe Run Road, East Fallowfield followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing at the Church from 10 a.m. to the time of the service.
