Lois J. Gill McGuigan, 79, of Pomeroy, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Neighborhood Hospice Center of West Chester. She was the widow of Edwin H. McGuigan, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.

Born on May 23, 1930 in Coatesville, Lois was the daughter of the late Caroline Kelley Gill and Everett M. Gill. An area resident her entire life, she was a 1948 graduate of the Scott High School. She was a member of the Pomeroy Methodist Church, and was a part of the VFW Auxiliary, Post #4480 of Parkesburg, a life member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Pomeroy Fire Co., where she was also the Radio Operator for 13 years. She enjoyed gardening, plants and animals.

Lois is survived by her son, David E. McGuigan of Pomeroy, two granddaughters and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, James E Sr.. and Douglas N. McGuigan, and grandson, James E. Jr.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Upper Octorara Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held at the Funeral Home from 10 until 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lois' name to either the Neighborhood Hospice Center, 400 E. Marshall, West Chester, PA 19380, the Pomeroy Fire Co., P.O. Box 125, Pomeroy PA 19367, or to the Pomeroy United Methodist Church P.O. Box 68, Pomeroy, Pa. 19367.

Condolences

Lois was my best friend in high school and I fondly remember the times we spent horseback riding together. I am grateful I was able to talk to her last week and will miss her.
