Lester J. Baxter, 90, of Honey Brook, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 while under the care of his daughter in Denver, PA. He was the husband of the late Rosella Anna Frederick Baxter who died in 2009. Born on the family farm near New Holland, he was the son of the late Chester Baxter and Bessie Watson Baxter.

Lester was an area resident all his life and a 1947 graduate of the former H. Scott High School in Coatesville. He proudly served in the US Army in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 and served in the reserves till 1960. He was employed at the New Holland Silk Mill and afterward by the Lukens Steel Company as a plasma arc torch operator and part time for the County at Hibernia Park working both jobs until he retired..

Lester was a member of the Wagontown Fire Company, the White Horse Fire Company, the Honey Brook Fire Comapany and the Martins Corner Fire Company where he served as Fire Police Lieutenant. He was also a member of the VFW.

He is survived by two children; James L. Baxter of Honey Brook and Leslie A. wife of Val Feliciano of Denver, PA, one grandson Jeremy Duttry and wife Cari of Etters, PA, two great grandchildren Lucas of Etters, PA and Chelsea Duttry and fiance Alex Reider of Ephrata, PA, and three sisters; Sara Taylor of Honey Brook, Laura Mae Doll of Lebanon and Pearl Walters of South Dakota. He was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.

A memorial celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at the Honey Brook Fire Hall, 679 Firehouse Lane, Honey Brook, PA 19344 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by interment and military honors at the Pequea Presbyterian Cemetery, Gap, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Honey Brook Fire Company at the above address.
