Leroy L. Cooper, Sr., 86, of Caln Township, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Coatesville VAMC Hospice Unit. He was the husband of the late Georgia Marie Thompson Cooper who died in 2008. Born in Delta, PA, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Florence Cooper.
Leroy proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He was employed by the Local Union #465 as a carpenter.
Mr. Cooper was a Life member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, the Downingtown VFW, Loyal Order of the Moose, Life member of the Thorndale Fire Company and a member of the American Legion of McConnellsburg. He enjoyed grouse hunting, fishing and trips to his mountain cabin.
He is survived by two children; Leroy "Larry" Cooper, Jr. of McConnellsburg and Diane Collison of Caln Twp., eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two brothers; Manifred "Butch" Cooper of Nottingham and Harlan Cooper of Oxford and two sisters Janice Clay of West Chester and Margaret of Egg Harbor City, NJ. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert "Frank" Cooper.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
