Condolences

My brother Ken spent much of his life on the road. I will miss his calls from across the country. It was quality time. Ken and his wife traveled halfway across the world to adopt two beautiful children from Armenia. I have always admired them for giving those kids a better life here in America. Ken was a man of God, a loving husband and father. I look forward to the day when I will see him again, when we are caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

Ken was my cousin. While our adult years were spent in different parts of the country, we had many memories together in childhood. Holidays meant large family gatherings in Philadelphia. It was an honor to be at his wedding to Judy and to follow, with deep admiration, their devotion to each other and to their children.

Ken was a wonderful second cousin. We shared an affection for our elder family members, and he was very intentional about keeping the family connected. He would visit my family frequently on his business trips to Chicago, and was faithful about calling – to celebrate good news, to be open about harder news, and sometimes just to chat. I know that many people relied on his wisdom, and that he will be deeply missed.

Dear Josh, Rachel and Savannah ,  I am so very sorry to hear of your father's passing.  I am thinking of the three of you and sending hugs and prayers your way.  Let your many memories comfort you.  Please take care of each other. Love, Mrs. Sampson

Thank you, Ken, for always calling when you were on the road.  We got to meet up several times, and you came to a gig as well when you were in the city.  I'll miss cooking together, and catching you up on my life, as you were always interested and remembered so many little details from previous conversations.  Rest easy, see you soon.
