Kay Eileen (Longabaugh) Althouse, 81, formerly of Sadsburyville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (formerly Harrison House) in Christiana, PA, where she had been a resident for the past five years.  Born in Beartown, PA, she was the daughter of Pearl Beatrice (Wertz) Longabaugh of Pocopson and the late Earl Elias Longabaugh.

Kay was a 1958 graduate of Scott High School in Coatesville.  Kay later went on to Licensed Practical Nursing school and worked at the Chester County Pocopson Home in West Chester, PA until her retirement in 2000.

 Kay lived an active and fulfilling life.  First and foremost she was genuinely committed to her three children. She supported them in all their endeavors, whether it was schooling, scouting, church, sports, or music. She was a dedicated member of the Sadsburyville community and served on the Sadsburyville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary for many years.  She was also the first female to complete firefighter training in Chester County. Kay was an active member of the Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church in Parkesburg, PA, and served the Lord in many roles in the church including participating in mission trips to help those in need, serving as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and the Women’s Group.  Kay had many hobbies and interests.  She was an avid gardener and spent many days at one of her favorite places touring the grounds of Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square. She also loved the beach and looked forward to annual summer trips with family to Ocean City, NJ.  Kay was extremely crafty and spent much time in her later years scrapbooking photos to preserve memories for her family to enjoy. 

She is survived by her children, Susan Rasdorf (David) of Alexandria VA, Sandra Haines (Robert) of East Fallowfield, and David Reynolds (Shannon) of Parkesburg.  Grandchildren Amy, Kimberly, Molly, David, Andrew, Traci, Taylor, Tyler, Austin & Ryan; great-grandchildren Robert, Ava, Jaxon, Hunter, Mason, Dawson, Aubrey, Levi, Jenna & Russell. Her siblings Ann Reynolds of East Fallowfield, George Longabaugh of Leola, and David Longabaugh of New York.

In addition to her father, Kay was predeceased by her sister Gail, brother Kenneth, former husbands James Althouse and Buzz Reynolds, and grandchildren Darrian, Daulton & Daniel Reynolds.

A Memorial Service will be held at Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg on Friday, December 17, 2021 beginning at 11:00 am, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service.  Inurnment will follow at Upper Octorara Cemetary.

Memorial contributions may be made in Kay’s name to Upper Octorara Church, 1121 Octorara Trail, Parkesburg, PA 19365 to be used to offset costs for future mission trips.

So sorry to hear this.  I moved to Florida but I remember working in Pa at HSL with her.  What a sweet heart.  RIP Nurse Kay !!! See ya in heaven .. love and prayers for family and friends and staff at Newport Meadows.

I am so sorry to hear about Kay.  She was such a sweet lady and made would make us laugh all the time. May she rest in peace.
