Joseph E. McComsey, Jr., 67, of Christiana, PA, died at his home on Sunday, January, 21, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie Gillespie McComsey, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Born in the village of Daleville, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Gertrude Kline McComsey.
Joe, was an area resident all his life. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1968 to 1972 and was a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War receiving the Combat Action Ribbon, two Purple Hearts and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Joe was employed, for 25 years, by Clark Associates of Smoketown, PA as a fleet mechanic.
He was a member of the Gap VFW Post 7418 and the Christiana American Legion.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two daughters; Kristen McComsey and fiance John Rinier of Columbia, PA and Chastity McComsey, two grandchildren and three siblings; Trudy Moore of Virginia, Thelma Younce of Delaware and Karen Santigo of Delaware. He was preceded in death by one daughter Lisa Self.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:30 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 10 to 11:30 AM. Burial, with Military honors, will take place the following day, Friday, February, 2nd at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at 12:30 PM.
