88 Years
Athens, Georgia

John Martin Good, 88, entered into eternal life on January 3, 2022, in Athens, Georgia. Born on January 18, 1933, in Coatesville, PA he was the middle son to the late Elwood Martin and Mary Margaret (Beyer) Good. He served in the US Army Drum and Bugle Corp in the Korean War for two years with an honorable discharge. After returning home, he married the love of his life Margaret (Peggy) Elizabeth Happersett also of Coatesville, PA. Together they built a home in Wagontown, PA and enjoyed rural life raising their three children. They enjoyed going camping, attending church activities, and gathering with family and friends. A machinist by trade, he was employed by Lukens Steel Company for thirty years when he took an early retirement at age 53. Following retirement, you could find him working with his oldest brother at his machine shop or traveling with his favorite companion (Peggy) out west or down to Florida. He was known for his gift of photography and videography, spending many hours creating instructional videos for Lukens Steel Company. He also gave beautiful memories to many brides and grooms of their wedding day. John was a volunteer firefighter with Brandywine Fire Company and a committed golfer with friends. He was a hard-working, active member at First Baptist Church Coatesville (now known as Cornerstone Fellowship). He served in many capacities within the church, but many remember him in the “sound booth” making sure the music and sermon were heard in the congregation and on the radio. After many years living in Pennsylvania, he and Peggy took the leap and moved to Georgia with their youngest daughter and family. He continued his commitment to golf at Lane Creek Golf Club where he played multiple time a week with friends. John will be forever remembered for making things level and his favorite saying of, “measure twice, cut once”. His kindness and gentle spirit could fill a room. His final years on earth were spent being best friends with one of his great granddaughters, singing songs together and watching cartoons. John is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Good of sixty-two years and brother, Kermit Good. He is survived by his daughter Sondra Good Simmers (Lloyd), Barry Good (Sandy) and Sharon Good Freese (Dean), 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brother William Good (Joanne). A life celebration will be held April 30, 2022, at Cornerstone Fellowship Church, 101 Kylies Road Coatesville, PA. Service will begin at 11:30 AM immediately followed by a luncheon and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials are made to Cornerstone Fellowship Church 101 Kylies RD Coatesville, PA.
