John A. "Jack" Simmons, Sr., 79, of Parkesburg, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Lancaster General Hospital after battling with cancer for one year. He was the husband of the late Shirley Daily Simmons who died in 2009. Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of John E. and Dorothy Gillespie Simmons.
Jack was a 1952 graduate of Parkesburg High School. He was employed as a machinist retiring from R & S Machine and Tools and was formerly employed by Nu-Pak of Parkesburg.
He was a member of the Parkesburg Baptist Church, the Downingtown Moose Lodge, Downingtown VFW and the Polish American Citizens Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going out singing Karaoke.
He is survived by four children; John A. Simmons, Jr., Sheryl S., wife of Paul Bischoff, Jeffery Simmons and Susan, wife of William Urban all of Parkesburg, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one brother Barry Simmons of Coatesville.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, followed by interment at the Glen Run Cemetery, Atglen.
Viewing at the funeral home from 10 to 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I am very sad to hear that Jack passed away. He was an awesome man, father,grandfather, mentor and friend to many. He was full of piss and vinegar, and had a great outlook on life. I had the privilege to reconnect with him over the last few months and I am very grateful. I am sorry for your loss.
