Jane was a remarkable woman.
Jane was a remarkable woman. Although I only knew her briefly (we were roomates in Chester County Hospital during her stay in early November) in 4 days we became good friends. We kept in touch over the last several weeks, and tonight when I could not reach her, I had a feeling someting went wrong. With tearful eyes, I found her obituary.
To her family, many friends, and associates, my sincere condolences. Her energy, dedication, breath of experience and intelligence amazed me; even while hospitalized, and dealing with multiple afflictions, she was attending Board meetings, having conference calls, and giving of herself to everything and everyone she cared about. And, what a terrific sense of humor! We talked, laughed, and cried together. I will miss my new girlfriend very much.
I feel very blessed to have made her acquaintance. In 4 days, she enriched my life.
May the Lord grant her eternal rest.
Sincerely,
Denise Doyle

Always Your Friend
Jane was an inspiration to all of us interested in historic preservation in Chester County. She was especially helpful to those of us down here in Landenberg in our efforts to rehab the Landenberg Bridge in an historically appropriate manner. She always worked to keep things non-adverserial. She was "always your friend" and will be missed.
She was an inspiration and a teacher.
Your mother taught me to see history. About thirty five years ago I took a genealogy class from her at CCHS. She opened my eyes to the importance of history in our lives. Thank you Jane.

Jane Davidson: An Inspiration to Us All!
I'd like to extend my regrets and regards to all of Jane's family. I am proud to have been a friend and a grateful beneficiary of her skillful guidance in the field of heritage preservation. Jane was an incredibly resourceful, determined, and productive person who gave so much back to our community. Her accomplishments were exemplary and will be felt by us all for a very long time. Be proud of it all. She will be greatly missed, and we will continue to serve in "Jane's Army", when and where we can.
Thank You, Jane, and God Bless
I worked with Jane at Chester County and can appreciate the dedication and fire she had for historic preservation. On a personal level, I still remember the day I mentioned the ship upon which the first member of my family had arrived in America in the 1700's. Jane raced back to her office for some book of records, and within minutes, she was able to provide me with a photocopy of his signature which I still treasure.
Smoker connection
In 2016 I was asked to assist with the Smucker-Smoker reunion. As we sat around the table planning I said, "I do not have a drop of Smoker blood in me". Jane said they would make me a Smoker for a year. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity, as did also my father, Christian, before me, to know her and work on heritage issues.
An Amazing Source of Knowledge
I send my condolences to Jane's family for their loss of this wonderful woman. She was an incredible source of knowledge and inspiration for the love of country, state, and county. Her contributions to Chester County will long be with us and teach generations to come. She was always with a smile, and happy to see a friend. I learned much from her for the purposes of researching in Chester County and beyond. She will be greatly missed but always remembered. I agree with Peter Campbell Brown and join as a long standing member of "Jane's Army" for preservation and research.
