James Joseph Liney, Jr., 91 of Coatesville, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Wellington at Hershey’s Mill Memory Care Community in West Chester, PA. He was the husband of the late Edna May Bickings Liney with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late James J. Liney, Sr. and Catherine E. Groce Liney.

Jim was an area resident all his life. After graduating from Unionville High School in 1951, he proudly served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956. He was employed by Bell Telephone for 36 years, as a telephone repairman.

During his retirement, he enjoyed creating oil paintings in art class, tending his vegetable garden, going to auctions, and working on projects in his wood shop. He was also a member of the Williamson Masonic Lodge of Downingtown, PA.

He is survived by five children; Jean Liney, Dawn Currier, James Liney, III, Ann Barnett, and Brenda Rogers, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one sister Catherine E. McKinnon. He was preceded in death by one daughter Charlotte Liney and four siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 10 am to 11 am followed by a brief service. Interment will follow at the Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA.
