Elizabeth Wood Walker McGibbon, 102, of Coatesville, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the home of her daughter. She was the wife of the late Waldron McGibbon, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2001. Born in Chadds Ford, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Albert and Ada (Weigard) Walker.

Elizabeth was a 1939 graduate of Avon Grove High School and a 1943 graduate of the Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing. She went on to work as an R.N. for several years at the Delaware Hospital and then the Coatesville Hospital.

She was a member of the Doe Run Presbyterian Church. She lived a life of service to others and enjoyed volunteering for many years with Meals on Wheels, Red Cross Blood Mobiles, and Longwood Gardens. In addition, she enjoyed square dancing, line dancing, and traveling to many countries around the world.

Elizabeth is survived by a daughter, Diann Rhoades, wife of Charles, of Coatesville, seven grandchildren, Brian, Tara, Lance, Brad, Adrienne, Eric, and Devyn, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter in 2012, Sharon McGibbon Law, wife of Edwin Law, and by two brothers, Wesley Walker and Preston Walker.

Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of Elizabeth’s family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Doe Run Presbyterian Church, 3104 Doe Run Church Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320 or Longwood Gardens 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square,  PA 19348.
