David Laymon Simmons, Sr., 74, of Coatesville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Brandywine Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sandra J. Urban Simmons with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Laymon Emmanuel simmons and Anna E. Ferri Simmons. 

Dave was a County resident most of his life. He served in the US Army from 1964 to 1966. He was employed for 30 years at the National Rolling Mills in Malvern. More recently he was employed part time by the Krapf Bus Company.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children; Amber Wingler and husband Gregory of Oxford and David L. Simmons, Jr. of Coatesville, two grandchildren; Kaitlyn and Noah Wingler and two brothers; Joseph Simmons of Frazer and Wayne Simmons of West Chester.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November, 28, 2018 at 11 AM at the Wyebrook Baptist Church, 62 New Rd, Elverson, PA 19520 with visitation viewing from 10 to 11 AM. Interment will take place on Thursday 10 AM at the Green Mount Cemetery, West Chester, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Chester County SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380 or the Wyebrook Baptist Church at the above address.

Services have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg, PA.  Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

Sandy, our deepest sympathy to you and Amber and David on Dave's passing.  We know this will be a big void in your life, you and Dave were always together.  May God give you peace and help you through the tough moments.  Always know that you were a wonderful caretaker for Dave.  We will miss seeing him in the yard and cutting the grass.
